It Don't matter if you're "Black and White"

My roommates and I hosted a cocktail party last night for a lot of our friends and some others who none of us really knew, it's funny how that happens at parties like ours. We had a lot of fun with it and a great turn out. We Danced, mingled, and just had a really good time. Just a chance for the block to get to know the girls at 347 Mountainview Road!

Bella is all the talk in our House!

So over the weekend my roommate Dani bought this little puppy and we named her Bella. The inspiration coming from none other than the genius that is Stephenie Meyer's character, Bella Swan, from her most lucrative series. We are having so much fun with her. Everyday we take turns puppy sitting. Poor Dani gets up in the middle of the night and takes her outside every two hours to go potty. Last night Bella had her first big accident so Dani had to empower herself with a little tough love which meant locking Bella up for a few hours this morning to contemplate her wrong doing. We all hope she will make a better choice next time. I love having this sweet puppy in our home.

Go Miss UTAH!

Jill Stevens won Miss Utah. She is a Southern Utah University graduate. And I just found out that while attending school she lived accross the street from where I live now and she was in my new ward. So she is all the talk around here. It really puts us on the map. Please vote for her at TLC's Website and cheer her on next week for Miss Amercia.
Go Jill!!!

The place I learn...

Southern Utah University in the heart of Cedar City, Utah...isn't it Beautiful. I am so excited to be back at school. I am taking classes this semester which pertain exclusively to my major which is Family and Consumer Sciences Education. I am having so much fun. I need to find a job at some point, but for now I love focusing on that which is learning.
Albert Einstein said “Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.”

This quote says it all. Happy Learning!

Black & White

Alright if you know me you know that I am really into Laguna Beach the MTV television and just recently found interest in the city (thanks Steph). Well I just moved into a new house with some really fun girls. My roommate, who is also new, and I have decided to throw a party. And so in true Laguna Beach fashion (Thanks to Lauren Conrad and Lo for the idea) the theme will be Black and White. With the help of my sister in law and one of my classes this semester I have learned some of the techniques for digital scrapbooking So I designed this card with our cocktail/fondue, metro-age, color specific event in mind. Happy Partying!

Home for the Holidays

I love the holidays because it allows me to get together with my Mom and Sisters and it is a time we can discuss things most paramount in our lives at the time. We share recipes, tips for organization, cooking pointers, and even this hot topic from my sister Julie (Thanks J!) I love having this Guide. I have read it and found it completely Blog-worthy! Unless you have a personal stylist(and let's face it, we can't all have Rachel Ray's Stylist) and if you are like me in having a desire to stay with it as far as Haute Couture is concerned, then this guide you will find most useful in your daily wardrobe collection selection. Happy Fashion!

Tim Gunn's 10 Essential Elements

1. Basic Black Dress - The basic black dress has been around for a long time. It is often called the "Little Black Dress", and it's true that shorter skirts on the basic black dress, when they hit you in the right place, can be more flattering than a long black dress.
2. Trench Coat - The trench coat is one of the pieces that is both classic and currently a hot fashion item. Most any store sells this piece now. It is great for fall and you can pick it up in a wide range of lengths.
3. Classic Dress Pants - Although it doesn't say black, this is probably what you want to look for. Black is flattering on all figures and goes with everything.
4. White Shirt - The white shirt is a definite classic. But it can also come in many different styles to make it look trendy and not dated or like a man's piece of clothing. Find one that accentuates your best attributes and minimizes trouble spots. For example, if you have wide shoulders, stay away from large collars.
5. Jeans - Everyone has a pair of jeans, but does everyone have a pair of jeans that make them look great? The wider leg, low-rise jean style has been popular (and still is) but a narrower leg is coming back along with a higher waist, which eliminates the unflattering "muffin top" look.
6. Cashmere Sweater - This is one item probably not many people own. But including it forces people to buy a piece of clothing that is high quality and that is also a luxury item. Having a cashmere sweater in your closet is like giving a gift to yourself. And aren't you worth it?
7. Skirt - If you need dress pants then you also need a skirt. A skirt is womanly and can be flirty or businesslike. Nowadays women do not wear many skirts or dresses, which makes a lot of them fall into a rut of dressing sloppily or like men. See number 8.
8. Day Dress - Women also are not wearing as many dresses anymore. It was certainly liberating to go from the '50s when women wore dresses every day to wearing more practical pants for gardening, exercising, and so forth. But the dress does not have to be abandoned altogether. They can be very flattering, and there is nothing wrong with "dressing up" for daytime.
9. Blazer - The blazer sounds very masculine, but when you get the right one with a proper shape it is not. Women's blazers should follow the silhouette of a woman's body and accent the hourglass curve at her waist. It is also a perfect piece to put with the skirt or dress pants, and white shirt. Or make it casual with a pair of jeans.
10. Sweat Suit Alternative - As mentioned before, women wear fewer skirts and dresses these days. But some women have taken casual to the extreme and spend days on end in sweat suits. It is possible to be casual and comfortable without looking like a slob. Find a comfortable material (that's why this doesn't say jeans again – denim is not as comfortable as a nice soft cotton) that you would want to wear every day. It could be khakis, cords, a cotton dress, or much more.
